Please submit your Citizen Service Number
Composers and authors affiliated to Buma/Stemra have received notice from Buma/Stemra about new legislation in the submission of data to the tax authorities. This new legislation requires Buma/Stemra to pass on Citizen Service Numbers (BSN) to the tax authorities by January 31, 2023 at the latest. This obligation concerns only composers and authors and does not apply to publishers, heirs and authors B.V.'s.
To fulfill this obligation, we need the BSN of composers and authors affiliated with us no later than December 31, 2022. To ensure the security of sharing the BSN, the BSN can only be entered via the secure MijnBumaStemra account. You will find the frequently asked question here.
Please note: as of Tuesday, December 13, you can only proceed in MijnBumaStemra once you have entered your BSN. You will be taken to an entry screen immediately after logging in. Please have your document on which you can find your BSN (e.g. your passport, driving license) ready. Never provide your BSN via email, letter or phone. Our staff may not and cannot process this data! To ensure the security of sharing your BSN, adding your BSN is only possible through your own secure MijnBumaStemra account.
Legal obligation
Buma/Stemra has a legal obligation to provide complete and correct BSN's to the tax authorities. Failure to do so may result in a fine being imposed by the tax authorities. Buma/Stemra reserves the right to suspend payments and/or pass on fines imposed, to members who have provided no information or incorrect information. Buma/Stemra cannot check whether the data you provide are correct. You remain responsible for that yourself.

The tax authorities require the information to be able to levy taxes correctly and to be able to properly perform its auditing task. This means the law includes an obligation for those obliged to keep records, including Buma/Stemra, to cooperate in the obtaining of data and information for tax purposes.
The obligation to provide such information is referred to as disclosure.
Buma/Stemra will provide the BSN (personal data within the meaning of the GDPR) to the Tax Authorities in order to comply with the disclosure obligation under the Algemene Wet inzake Rijksbelastingen [General Taxes Act].
There are no additional costs associated with a MijnBumaStemra account. Here you can easily view and change your personal information and in this environment you can arrange everything concerning your music.
